Nope. That’s actually someone’s private property. Always thought my entire life it was part of the state forest. Turns out it’s not. Someone owns a huge chunk of forest land out there.
Technically I should feel bad for trespassing and part of me of course does. At least I know I’m not damaging their property at all. ATV’s don’t have to mess things up unless you want them too ;) Never drive over the same spot and you’ll never know it went through when the undergrowth hasn’t sprung up yet.

And yes, the trunk is surprisingly solid, perhaps mostly still alive yet.

At the risk of being thrown off the forum, I’m good with it.
I have access to more wood than I know how to process. Now that’s a good thing :)

Not much beech around here near the coast. Where the H do you get 7 cords + ?
Beech here is not more than 6"-8" DBH with the disease. More beech, yellow birch, rock maple grows inland.....the good hardwoods.:hair:
Send that surplus beech you got here. :salute: An order.

Thanks, I live in the northern part by the mountains of flagstaff. No cactus here at 7000 feet. But we do get lots of sun and wind too. I couldn’t take the heat all summer that they get in the southern part of the state. But during monsoon season the sun is sparatic.

Gravel and compost spread, compost covered with fresh wood chips and will be planted in about 3 weeks. I ended up cutting a few more beech trees to expand the wood yard since I had enough gravel. Just need to put some chips along the unsupported section of the bank to stop erosion. That’s today’s project. The Kubota is getting a workout and she should turn 100 hours today. Dumf beech is almost a weed around here it’s so prevalent. Maine has a lot more diverse forests than what you see around the blueberry barrens Downeast. You should get out more :p
Here’s the wood yard. Now I just gotta SS that pile...

The hugelkultur bed that will be planted in about 3 weeks. I started it 3 years ago so it’s ready I’m sure. 6” of fresh compost with 6” of fresh wood chips on top should work great. No watering required...

When this whole thing started back in February I was salivating at the thought of being able to get much needed projects done during the shutdown. Business has been balls to the wall since early March:headbang:!
Record breaking March and April .
So much for getting chit done

....well, after some more main ditch clean out....and some
erosion control construction at the over flow gate....we got the
lateral ditch running. ...and I have water to play in again.

    Yea....summer is here.
Finally got my valve project tested and certified.
No leaks. Started the cover up.
I love it when a plan comes together....
    and works as planned.
It's just too easy now to move my water around.
I love playing in the water.

Hardly any firewood for me this weekend besides burning. Replaced the rear wheel bearings on our Volvo. Cleaned up a lot of the basement, (a 4 and 6yr old did a number on it). Went and picked up an incubator for replenishing the chicken flock. now the wife and I are rebuilding the boys LEGO sets. They like to take them completely apart, but now they have a shelf for them and they want them all to be rebuilt. (If we can find the pieces).

On to the next water diversion project.
Had to move the water off the house....away from the house and not over
the wall. ...so, remove the wall and run it through the wall. Fun little project.

For tips and hints and what to drink while fixing a toilet innards, send one benjamin to Dumf.
The instructions, the parts, the gross PITA to put this %$#@ thing together without leaks demanded a long weekend and
    many towels. :headbang:
    BTW--this was a Toto.

...hey, kids....AquaMan here. Moving more water from here to there.
Never installed a sprinkler system from scratch.
Rigged up a redneck pipe trencher.
Use this for a few hours and you don't need to go to a gym.
...and the price is just right.

Never had an erector set when I was a kid....this makes up for it.
    Funny pipe.
It's the only way to go. Makes placing the heads a breeze.
This is just too much fun.

    Sprinkler zones are complete.
    On to the next project.
Complete the lower garden wall rebuild.
Not nearly as hard as the long wall. Only 100 stones.
    Should be done tomorrow.
