I will be splitting the correct way, vertical. I stand vertical. If I want to take up milking cows I may try something different LOL

Not a bad idea. I’m surprised I didn’t to be honest. I also forgot to trim off the excess in the back. Was working in a lot of pain that day. I’d bet that weld would hold. Welded the top solid with some small scraps so the corners that don’t meet would be solid. There’s at least three sticks of 7018 in that one joint :) But your right. I’ll put a gusset up there. That would surely hurt and it’s not where the eyes are focused during operation. You’d never know what hit ya. Thanks.

Sorry for your loss Dear Meadow Farm. I know I appreciate the three generations of tools that have been passed down on this old farm for me to use. There are things saved from the depression era that are getting repurposed.

My brother is at the tree farm expanding the footprint of our deck. I think it is also going to be a zip line platform as well

This is some of the finest klugey engineering you will ever see.
As soon as we start getting some water I can test and finish it up.

One race chain coming up. Did a couple of test cuts today and is nice and smooth. All that is left is to box it up and send it off. That was a brand new chain never used when I started on it.

The boy finished stacking today. That leaves the weekend open for splitting, smoking ribs and probably some target practice. I’m on call next week so I’m trying to get done what I can, when I can.

You ever have a problem with theft with your wood being stacked like that out in the open. I know all mine are located where I can see them.

The pavement in the pic is my driveway, not a road. The wood is stacked between my house and the road. It’s in clear view of the house and we haven’t had any issues with theft.

Well this morning I ripped up a old firering in the yard that we never use and it's just in the way, then I cut down a dead apple tree and got that all cut up and split and in the shed to use at a later date for grilling/smoking.

Throwing most of the branches in the OWB, and the rest of the branches are working on cooking out the stump.

I set up my gun range. Goes up to 80 yards. I have room to easily extend it out to past 100 yards. I played around with my “toy” 1200 FPS pellet gun the other day. I was nailing coins from 20 yards, and there was a slight breeze. I hate to use any of my bigger ammo until I buy some more. I’m also going to set up a knife and axe throwing target.

Do I even wanna count the garden and splitting work? Only reason why I don’t is I’m just handling one project at a time. I’m moving wood far more than I need to but the opportunity for using these oak,
Maple and miscellaneous beams is possible for other reasons. We’ll see. D17FBA65-E19B-491B-9FD6-1501258E181C.jpeg

In between servicing my mothers fleet of lawnmowers, and my own, I’m adding a little here and there to the Great Wall of Rona. Built to keep those pestilent peasants at bay. (sometimes feels as if civilization is reverting to the dark ages if you spend much time on social media)

Took a little break from work yesterday. Went for a little ATV ride in the woods. No splitter, no wagon, no tools, just a joy ride. It’s been awhile since I’ve done that. Often I like to go off trail to see pieces of forest I’ve never seen. Came across the biggest White Birch tree I can remember ever having seen. Laying down for awhile. Looks like it had been trying to stay alive but recently gave up. Trunk doesn’t look like a white. It’s not till you look at the branches you can tell what it was. Just found it interesting to find that out in the middle of the woods all by itself. Not a natural habitat.

Been cutting and blocking beech, the pile is over 7 cord now I believe with a bit more to go. Most coming from my new wood stacking area. This will give me plenty of room for 15+ cord and tractor attachments, etc. 60 yards of gravel and hopefully this part will be done today. Too soft to get around back so I had the gravel put in the driveway. A little snow to start yesterday morning then it blew like a banshee all day. The two on the left are today’s project. One is 3/4 for the top layer.

jo191145 Hope you are going to get that white birch. With a bunch of it off the ground it may still be good.
