I have done the crank seals on three different saws. All running good now. Took an old weed eater and fixing it for my BIL so come spring he will have it ready to go. Been cutting up a bunch of Elm and got it all stacked and dated. I got the Ash that I got not to long ago cut, stacked and dated. Did a little work on the backhoe. Graded the road that I live on. And right now I am working a race chain for a competition on another forum. Just keeping busy.
Take it slow Dennis, the wood will stack itself. BUTT be careful about nerves in the house. Remember the rule of SWMBO ( Rumpole of the Bailey )...always. Take care until you can recover. Best of success.
I'm still working full time but they have cut our over time. So it's pretty much been business as usual for me, other than not being able to go out to eat or see my family and friends(which really is a bummer). I've been busy trying to get my '86 F-150 back together. I've completely rebuilt the front suspension and I'm working on building a 406 ford to put in it. Hopefully by May I can start daily driving this. I've got a bare block mocked in it now to build the exhaust.
Sorry to hear your hurting. Post away, I need the competition LOL I can only put ina few hours each day myself so it’s not normal I make any milestones worth posting. Hope you get your needed surgery soon. Took two days to weld up a new pole for my log splitter rig. Had purchased the pipe previously and thought I had angle iron in the barn that was 3.5”. Turned out it was only 3” so I’m scabbing things together. Not going out to buy what I should have, make do. Welds look horrible because I only have 1/8” 7018 at home right now. They’ll hold just not win any awards at the craft fair. To make matters worse yesterday morning, first thing, I took a header off the top step of my porch. Landed on my knees on the granite sidewalk. Ouch!! I’ll be taking it easy today. Happy for the rain Came up with a brilliant (my opinion only) design for a new set of stairs. Old ones need to be replaced. They’re a secondary set leading to the backyard and have needed attention for some time. They just moved way up the list Have one nice 20” White Oak log left from my bridge project. Gonna have that sliced in half then cut down to nominal 8” steps. Should work, so far it’s just in my head but that’s where all my figuring gets done. Never pull out a ruler until the projects well underway. Stay safe out there folks.
I’ve been able to complete the usual spring stuff. Let’s see. Some firewood processing for next year. Turn water back on in the camp and do some light cleaning there. Help wife with pasture chores like some light fence work and raking and dragging so all horse manure and hay remnants are spread out to help with grass growth. Besides the usual spring stuff my son and I have been able to get a nice start to our new loop of trail through the back West corner of the property. It’s going to be a long one, and take us a while, but because of this stay at home thing we are making more progress than I thought we would. Now I’m really getting excited about getting this job done. It’s going to be a beautiful trail. We have cut through about 150 yards or so.
Thanks Cash. Believe it or not we have plenty of help. Just consider out GTG's we've had and all the great friends that come. Not only do they have a good time but they help us out too and it is appreciated.
Yup. Resuming backyard project now that the weather is getting warmer. Garden beds, cobbled walkways, tree planting etc.
Awesome! Looks really good. Can tell you’ve really been busy. Love to see some pics as you progress. Less grass to mow too. Ought to serve your family well for years to come love the view of the mountains
Sheltering in place can be enjoyable ....sometimes. It's all shelter when retired. Still have 4+ cords in harvested butts to split and stack/ Yes, they'll be tight. Roadwork on the mile dirt drive in. A break from stacking. Some trail work clearing blowdowns on trails. Finally got the green CSD 4 cords ( beech, yellow birch, rock maple ) to stack in the wood shed... done. At least when she's not in the area I can listen to Rush's banter. Anyone with brilliant ideas to make the haul and stack simpler and fun ( no, no ale until it's done ) ? Throw it in the cart, hump the cart up the short hill to the shed, carefully stack (tight tight ), repeat, and repeat. And you Mr. Yooper (Dave ), it is now snowing, hard. 3"-6" forecast. You getting snow in U.P. ?
Finally got my valves. Maybe over engineered....but....I don't care. I'm having fun. Thought if I every had to replace one of the paddles in a valve, if I glued and barried it all it would be a major project to fix it. So, using Fernco connectors on the valves. Built boxes they will sit in. Then, if ever.....I can slid the Ferncos back and pull the valves. Going to get all this installed tomorrow.
jo191145 "Took two days to weld up a new pole for my log splitter rig. Please weld a brace on the top of the pole. If that weld lets go under load it could really hurt you!
I've been working on a rebuild of my 3-point hitch guard and chain boxes (stay tuned for a seperate thread) and I have bought a bunch of parts to make a major upgrade to my Wood-Eze firewood processor as well which will also appear in a not too distant (I hope) build thread. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack this past Saturday night/early Sunday morning so the more important project is helping my brother-in-law go through his tools and collections to see what should be given to the family, sold for money for my mother-in-law, or thrown in the trash.
