Bought this album the day it came out. Play it still. One of his best I think. Lot's of memories in this one for me. Not all happy.
I miss these two guys together. Wife and I had tickets to see the "new band" at the Iron Horse in Northampton Ma. last winter. We got a AirB&B to make a nice overnight out of it. They canceled. We waited for months for a rescheduled date. Finally I just realized they weren't performing. Bummer because as a duo they were fabulous.
Yeah, Shulman retired in 2018. Rex Fowler married Dodie Pettit around then and now those two are "touring" with a couple other friends under the Aztek Two Step 2 or ATS 2.0 moniker. Dunno if Shulman is unhealthy or just chose to retire. Aztek Two Step was a pretty long gig. Their website appears to be rife with cancellations /reschedules and doesn't appear they've been able to do much this year.
Totally understandable with C19, complicating it all. But they canceled the Northampton gig in deep winter but I waited till Spring and then when C19 hit I asked for my money back and got reimbursed. I wish the A2 group the best, they were one of the old school folk groups that survived longer than anyone that I know of.
What a personality! He loves what he does and it shows. I love watching him explain the Purdie Shuffle. This is where I was introduced to him.
Listening to a little Lucinda this morning. This is one of my favorite Lucinda albums. This album from 2003 Live at the Filmore (West) was a double album set recorded over 3 day run in November. Lucinda was at her best back then and this album is killer, both in material and her performance! Raw, autobiographic, Louisianna country blues.
I have this on a Super Audio DVD. Haven't watched it in years. I think that will be on tonight's play list, which is the story by Fagan/Becker produced AJA. (at least if this is taken from that DVD, I think it is.)
Some of the greatest, best sounding music I have in my library! I grew up listening to Steely Dan, primarily Aja. I love the making of/behind the scenes shows. Really cool hearing them click through individual tracks of those recordings. Wish we, as end listeners, could do that.
My daughter decided on a decorating job tonight. So I’m playing a few Christmas songs. Probably my favorite.....
