Converted a 61 to a 272xp today. Needs a longer plug wire and a little clearance for the spark plug boot. It's running an hs 254 carb right now. I have an hs260 that will go on when I get a rebuild kit.

Trying to get a 346 case welded. Turning a bunch of parts into a 359 and 2156. Putting together a 353 to sell after thurough clean and repair job. If I included my labor it would go for around $900. Hell I've got $100 my labor removing the cat, last time doing that. I'm glad I don't do this to make money.

Amen brother. . I have done many saws for no profit or a slight loss.

Good on you for helping helping others and keeping yourself busy! :)

Spray transfer is very tricky, and for me is impossible if inverted.
For MIG; 100 % CO2 will cause more splatter, penetrate much deeper, and run REAL hot, I run C25 exclusively with ER70S-6 wire (lots of dirt bike repairs)
For TIG, I have a few bottles with different mixes and Pure Argon, and have been liking the Tri-mix on stainless

Between 100 and 110 lbs. Hard to do with the 10mm threads. Did not have to wipe piston. Oil looks cooked on below the ring land.

Hopefully stuffing the Myraid into the garage and getting it hooked up today! Get it all nice and broke in with the tail end of this season and move it into the living room next fall when we install the wood boiler.

What does that piston go to?

I have seen new saws, weed eaters, leaf blowers, etc with black like that below the ring. The type of oil, amount of oil, and also the temp at which that piece of equipment is ran at. My Poulan Weed wacker has looked like that from its first year. But I ran 50:1, chitty oil, and it's wide open for over an hour straight when I weed wack around my pond.

It could very well be a worn ring, but other OPE doesn't always have the really high compression that a saw does.

    Hmm..........
That ring looks real shiney, what does the under-side of the piston look like ?
Looks like the piston and wrist pin area are real dry ........... maybe something like Amsoil @ 80:1 to 100:1

It's a 550 piston. Compression was low. Cannot comment on what type/mix of oil used. Cylinder is flawless. I'm thinking heat!
