It sure is! Bark, leaves, seed pods and thorns (not all ive encountered have thorns) leave zero doubt in my mind. Most i see are tall straight up toward the canopy. Those not having competing trees spread out like a yard tree. They love lots of sun. You gonna cut one down?
Not positive. Bark in the last two pics could be, but the thorns are shorter than any Locust I've cut. Thorns usually are about the size of a 10 penny nail & way sharper around here.
Yes. Looks like you found BL down by the river. As far as the thorns, seems the younger trees always have thorns and with the mature ones its a toss up. In my experience. I have to say I've never seen a BL with branches like the pic. Most of the ones in my area grow straight, with a few main branches.
You are always welcome to come out and try to find a tree to cut, and I WILL let you run the 266. Of course after that there’s gonna be a bunch of stihls for sale in the classifieds
They’re probably on county road right of way, which I could probably get the “go ahead” on but none of them are dead. I think I found some more but need to get a closer look. They are on state right of way, couple dead ones there. I know a couple of the state boys so I can probably snag them someday
