Yep, he was by himself with the monster maul because I bet him 20 buck he couldn't split the half cord of ash I just got by hand in under 4 hours. Granted he made alot of 6 inch overnighters, but I like to burn about half my wood that size anyway.

My boy likes to swing the ax as well but at 70 pounds and 8 years old, he doesn't get a lot behind his swings yet.

First pic is him and my wife. She is 5'11" and was wearing high boots.
Ya he is 6 foot 2 and probably 270 now, just a freshman. He is #66 in the middle for comparison. #75 in front of him is 6'2" and 260. 20190823_185559.jpg

Pricey106 I can relate with thinking about the clutter of stuff. I currently have a pile of rounds (4 cords) at the end of my driveway to move to processing area.

Under that mess is more mess of huge stumps (left over from driveway clearing) that I need to get rid of.

Our county is shelter in place orders but Im essential no matter what happens.
Im off this weekend and of course its raining like mad

Lol...ya he is starting to drive me a bit crazy after 2 weeks off from school and training, and who knows how many more. So now he wants to rip around all day on my ATV....He did bring me some wood on Monday, but I won't let him take the saw. I gave him an axe and told him to do it old school...Let's see what he does today. I told him 5 bucks a cart load of premium 6 inch diameter by 4 foot length. Thank goodness gas is cheap now and still available....

I got to eat away at some of my mount needs-split-and-trim-more yesterday. It was too wet to be driving the ATV around the property to stack it, so into a pile it goes. The boy took my ATV for a ride, but only on agreement he brings wood back, and he did. I also have to threaten him on not visiting his friend (girl) across the mountain like he did last year during a snowstorm without me knowing. I have a tracker on his phone, and he doesn't leave home without that, hopefully he doesn't know how to spoof the location.

You've got your hands full! Maybe you can get him started building a log cabin or something.

Lol....gotta keep him off the PlayStation during the day while I am sleeping. He opted to start bushcrafting instead yesterday. Smart kid, he saw a cop car drive through the cemetery that borders my property, the cemetery owns alot of the woodlands behind my property, about 25 acres, I think they frown upon atvs back there, even though there is a bunch of trails. There is also 30 some acres owned by the water company ajacent to their land. He doesn't want to get busted.
