Horkn I've got to tell you that I tried a glass of this stuff last night and enjoyed it. Now don't go getting your hopes up, I'm not exactly convinced and am sure not (nor ever will be) converted to a wine drinker, I just thought I'd let you know that I do have an open mind on occasion. Not too frequently, but on occasion.

It is a concord from door county and I snuk a glassful while 99 was out of the room.

Even though one glass is all I had, I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of the bottle in place of grape juice some morning for breakfast!

    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

    :salute:

Now only if you had a really good glass of wine.

I have not had good red wine from Wisconsin. If they are any good, the grapes are trucked in, or simply bottled elsewhere, and labeled as Wisconsin wine. Our climate and harsh winters are not conducive to grow many grapes, and those that do grow here are white wine grapes.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've had wine though. I've been drinking whiskey and beer.

It's because red wine grapes just are not cold hardy.

Now Washington State, Oregon, and California, as well as other warmer areas grow red wine grape varietals if you can keep them hydrated.

I love a good Pinot Noir. I'd say Oregon grows the best Pinot noir grapes, but Washington State and California do some awesome pinot's.
Obviously there's Europe as well that can and do grow grapes and make wine. I just feel that the West coast USA pinots are better than European ones, especially Oregonian ones.

Actually, of particular note, Agoston Haraszthy , well known as the father of modern Californian winemaking, first settled and grew wine grapes in Wisconsin, before heading out west to Cali.

On our drive back through New York State, we saw a ton of vineyards, I think mostly the Erie/ Chautauqua area. That had to have been right before harvest.

Now that the OWB is lit off and the cottage is closed up for the season, I'll be able to spend evenings on FHC with the occasional libation.

    But, probably not any wine!

I have to admit my wife and I sometimes rely on a 5 liter box of cheap Franzia Cab or Merlot for libation, as we are right now.

Also we have a store called Total Wine that sells a red blend 5 liter box for $9.99 which is pretty good for bulk wine. We usually keep a box or two on hand.

My mom and step father always had a box of that on the shelf. Right next to the cereal!

Emergen-C for me tonight. Trying to keep a cold from brewing. Although I have been known to mix it with Mountain Dew, seltzer, or seltzer with vodka.

    Advil cold and sinus.

I did come up with a new drink the other day.
    20191106_193735.jpg

Vodka, a little ginger beer, Mandarin orange sweetened seltzer, a splash of lime juice, and a couple maraschino cherries. It's a spin on a mule, but not bitter, due to the sweet orange seltzer. Yum!!
