Thanks Will. Just enjoying a few beverages to close out a great weekend. My son shot his first squirrel on Saturday. Since then, I've been cutting and splitting. I'm a little sore, but that means I had fun. I like to split everything by hand. Someday I won't be able to, until then, I'll keep on swingin' that maul!

Thanks. I'll move them to a better location when I can get the tractor back there. Got it stuck in the snow on Saturday.

When it comes to splitting by hand, I guess you either love it or hate it. I would like to upgrade my maul someday, though. Swinging a Lowe's special right now. Would love to try a higher end maul just to see what it's like.

I always liked it , never used anything but a low end maul

Don't do it as much as I used to since we got the pellet stove .

I don't think there is a love/hate with hand splitting so much as longevity factors in.
It's great exercise in moderation, but when it comes to heating with 100% wood, hydraulics become, to me, near essential.
Plus running a splitter to max production is just as satisfying with 4x the wood produced.

Not to derail a good drinking thread:drunk:with wood talk and stuff - welcome Frank and Beans sipping a December 2014 vintage Michelob and tallboy Capecodder

I just wonder if there's a big difference. Had a couple of 20" rounds that i couldn't get through today. I'll take another whack at em next weekend.

Tried the Ezra with some cola this evening and I can honestly say I don't care for it. But I'll keep trying.

Yooper, at least you tried. Personal tastes differ. Send it over my way, drop it in lake Michigan, it might end up at the beach near me.

Drinking spiced rum and coke. And got a good buzz going. It's been a while.
