    He spends a lot of vacations and summers with me and has always heped.. but last summer his step dad, father is a farmer and paid him to weed wack fences bale hay etc. but he has shingled a roof and climbed a ladder he has no real fears but is sensitive (hearing) to loud guns saws etc..

    How to correctly use a speed square to cut a birds mouth on a rafter. If he can do that rough carpentry will be easy forever.

    I love this thread. You have a great list and the additions are awesome.
    Here's my suggestions:
    1) Fell and limb a tree with an axe that he has sharpened.
    2) Sharpen a pocket knife with an Arkansas stone. (Preferably, then dress out a deer, squirrel, rabbit, etc, with this knife)

    Probably the most important is a "talk"
    about keeping things "wrapped up" so not to disrupt his future.
