I also bring home lots of landfill stuff and even more stuff from the scrap yard. I go there to get money and always end up trading for more scrap. Revolving Door moment aka Pete keeps rePETEing moment.
It's our "collective" legacy..... Someone at another forum thought it was a fad, that it wouldn't go anywhere......that we'd be washed-up in a year or so...... Look at us now......
I give people names that usually stick to them and sayings that are still used today. Years ago the boss's son in law started working for him. He was an edumacated type and his name was Dennis. He was a likable enough guy but unwise to the ways of the real world and never did a days work in his life. I noticed once that his hands were white as snow from lack of work. No callouses or dirt under the fingernails. I started referring to him as white hands instead of his real name and it caught on in an instant among my fellow workers. The boss caught him one day shagging a receptionist on the desk in a room off the main showroom and literally ran him out of town but to this day we still call him white hands and it's been over ten years that he's gone.
Well not sure if its a legacy or not. In the mid 80's i was stationed in new ulm germany. I lived in a rooming house over Diters bar. Well i was not a big beer drinker but i did like my jack ( black label ) most of the locals did not drink hard liquor. They do now. Still get xmas cards from a couple of them.
