I really like that patio project. Color issues and all, it looks good to me.

Making more progress, despite the fact that the dirt is soaked and literally was frozen into nuggets last weekend. Hauled in another load of big stone from the mountain, nearly finished up the last long wall for the season, and began back-filling it. Hoping to have these raised bed walls done and back-filled by the weekend. The weather is slowly fighting back and I'm afraid some stuff will have to be put off until the next warm spell...

Very nice Scotty. I love the looks of stone walls like that. The pile of wood in the back ground looks about as nice.

I would love to see a picture of the "ditch" in working mode. I love to see water moving, going somewhere and not backing up and making a mess.

I'll do that for you the next torrent we get....

The ditch isn't totally complete, got it 70% done, I had to stop work on it to get the raised bed walls up before winter. But you'll still get a sense of how it works.

If we get a mild winter, I'll keep working on it. Otherwise it's on hold til spring.

Well, just a wee bit more and the sidewalk flowerbed stone walls will be done....got alot accomplished the past several evenings, in the DARK!

Some progress pics.....most of those stones are much bigger than the appear. Some are a few hundred pounds!

A small transition wall under the corner of the deck. This wall is twice as high as the others, the stones are much bigger also.

I put around 24 heaping wheelbarrow loads of topsoil into this bed......uggggh

Sorry for the dark pic, took this one on my way out the door this morning. I'll get a better one later today. Can't wait to do the stone veneer on the rear foundation of the house, it'll really tie the house into the landscaping then....

It is really going to look nice next summer when the flower beds are blooming. Thanks for taking the time to share your progress.

Wifey is really excited, she was in tears last night when she came out around 8pm to check on my progress.

She's been patiently waiting for me to get these flowerbeds in for quite some time, she deserves it....

Once the natural veneer is installed on that foundation and basement stoop, it'll really come together. That won't be happening until spring.

Next project is to dig out the footer for the fireplace/pizza oven so I can get it poured, hoping to do most of that on Sunday. I'm going to have to hand-dig it.....

Well, they do appear to be heavy buggers. Anyone who have moved stones like that knows very well what it is like. They say stones are hard and the are right! Hard on the back!

I just moved a few stones like that off the trail this morning where I cut. :faint:
About all I could do to move them...

If they're nice and squared off on at least two sides with uniform thickness, save 'em for me!! ;)

Is there a rail nearby? Maybe roll them over to the rail and next time a train comes by they can pick 'em up and haul 'em in for Scotty... ;)
