After jackhammering a trench and cleanup/haul out of that mess, the floor was water sprayed and squeegeed into the trench.

You can see in one pic where they drill holes into the base of the block allowing the trapped water to drain. (pics #2 and #3 show mud forming due to this draining water that was trapped).

The trench is then flattened out and watergaurd/fill rock is added to keep watergaurd at desired level.

More rock is added to top of watergaurd and the all covered with a plastic type sheet. I believe that this sheet prevents the concrete from "seeping" down through the rock and into the watergaurd.

You can also see the space between the watergaurd and the block wall. It is designed this way to allow to capture any moisture that may form on the exposed block wall a place to drain away.

The door leading to outside is not longer used, but a open grate trench drain was installed in front of it. The door leads up a set of poorly poured concrete stairs underneath a deck. :picard:

Concrete is starting to be laid in and finished.

Pic #1 shows open trench drain in front of door. Probably a winter project..... make a new door? ;)

There are two access ports in the water gaurd. These can be used for cleaning/flushing the system or even de-humidifier discharge hose drain access. But....... like I told the salesman, if it works right, I won't need a de-humidifier...right? :smoke:

As good and careful as they were in their work and clean up, it would never meet 99 lbs standards! She (we) spent the next few hours cleaning.

Immediate plans are to re-paint the walls and then floors before the shelving and sauna wall is pieced back together. Hopefully, by Christmas, all will be back as it was!

I want to give the concrete at least a week to firm up before I start putting sill plates for walls and legs for shelving onto it.

I'm looking into having this done in our house but reluctant to do so. 1840 stone house. No footers. Water seeps in from the back wall occasionally which is buried. I'm thinking that a spring runs in the bank. Might need to get a structural engineer in to advise.

It looks like a nice installation! I hope you have a dry basement from now on.

Wow, yooperdave with the photo documentation!:faint:
Looks good...it appears that the concrete they put in is real thin?

    Concrete is drying nicely.

Today, we started painting the block wall after disinfecting it with bleach/water solution. This will remove any growth that occurred due to the wet walls in the past.

This bleach/water and scrubbing routine was done annually by order of 99 bs.

Floor and wall painting are moving along a lot faster than I had anticipated. 99 is helping out a lot as she wants her organized basement back together.

Today, I hope to get the wooden sauna wall put back together as it had to be removed for the watergaurd install. Also, some shelving will be re-installed and most probably a 4' fluorescent light installed over those shelves. There was only a screw in ceiling light fixture there before and as everyone who is a bit older knows.... the older you get, the more light you need! ( The light in that area will be needed probably no more than once a week (max). That is why I won't use an LED fixture there.)

I went to boot in 1988, 3rd Battalion. I don't care what year it is. That's just wrong to me. This country gone to hell

Believe me sir, I understand your position. :salute:
Forgive my mentioning of the year, it was meant as an observational jest at the larger thing that is our country.

Got the sauna wall put back together and then installed the benches and wall trim. Sauna is done.

Re-assembled the shelves and then painted them. Everything...legs, supports and shelving. May need another coat of paint but don't think it'll get one. 99 is chomping at the bit to get the basement put back together.

On a side note, I talked to the install company of this project and let them know that there is still a little dribble of water finding its way to the floor drain. They called me this morning and scheduled another 15' additional install of watergaurd to eliminate that flow.

No cost as it is covered under their warranty. :handshake:

So, there'll be some more pics in a couple weeks! :ithappened:
