image.jpeg Today's score,no damage to chain today, i should add, i rolled one 6 ft piece about 14'' on the butt, and it was loaded with fencing, it had been there long enough that it was pretty much absorbed by the tree, but, was sticking out of the tree 10-12''. Funny thing, i've been all around those tree's, it must have been on the bottom, of the tree, and i missed it. Sure glad i found it when i rolled it over , painted it with bright blue paint, where the fencing showed through and put a big M on both ends.

These remind me a when I was a kid there was a park near where I lived that had been a ranch a long time ago. There was a tree that someone had leaned a leaf rake up against. The owner died, and years and years went by. Finally the property was sold to the city which turned the property into a park. By that time the tree had almost entirely engulfed the rake. The only thing still visible were three of the rake tines sticking through an opening in the bark which covered it more and more with each passing year. It’s completely inside the tree now. I pity the poor sap that might eventually cut that tree down. It will be nasty. Hope it never happens.

Over the years of roofing ive had to contend with trees growing into the bottom of the roof edge. One had engulfed the drip edge and landscaper had left the chunk of elm. Maybe 4" diameter. One other time i had to literally trim the edge shingle and flash around a larger tree with a piece of lead

That tree came from a church yard. It was a strap and loop used to tie horse reins too. I gave it to our local Stihl dealer for their showcase. They have another chunk with a big screw on ceramic insulator in it.
A member of our church, about 80 yrs old, went to the church where that strap was, as a boy. He said he remembers another strap on a pine tree there, but never saw that one on the oak. No telling how old it is.

image.jpeg Did more metal detecting today, but, only hit it with my axe, and, just lightly, lol Just a guess, the long nail, might be a gutter nail, who knows why they used so many big lag hooks, and the little one, i don't have a clue. I finally got the big oak log all cut down to size, and a couple of them split, i'll take the splitter over tomorrow, and take care of the big, really tough ones. The one's i split today, i used a 6lb maul, and 4 steel wedges. Had to double up on the wedges, the last big pieces of wood were REALLY twisted. Good exercise though, lol

Well, went back up to the daughters house today. Took the 261, and the splitter. The rounds were so big, i had to X them so i could split them easier. This is some kind of tough oak! One piece had 2 stems i had cut it down to about 20'' in length, and it was heavy, so i split it with the 261 right where they started forming 2 different stems, each, being about 20'' across. Cut them in half, then rolled them over to the splitter which i had set to split vertically, and started whittling on them. Got all the chunks split down to 2 1/2'' slabs, then noticed the guy's who dropped the tree's hadn't blew off her new roof. So, i went up there with my old stihl 420 backpack and blew it off. Of course the gutters were all level full with leaves, and pieces of limbs. Had to clean them also, its supposed to rain here tomorrow after noon, and the gutters were totally plugged with junk. Got that all finished and looking good, then started blowing the chips, and saw dust off the yard, so it could breath and hopefully put on some new growth. All in all, got a lot of wood split, yard cleaned up, gutters cleaned, and the roof cleaned. Came home took a shower and went out and enjoyed the wind, while it was blowing and the sun shine. Let er rain, we're ready!! It was a great day.

sounds like a busy productive day. Funny how one project evolves into another. Happens to me all the time! Makes me mad when any type of person you hire doesnt clean up after themselves.

i "found" this one today even though i had hit it with the saw back in April. See thread I like heavy metal, but my chain saw doesnt. Finally bucked the log and left bracket in the 32" log as my 16" cut wouldve been right through it. Split the 32" and got bracket out, then i cut it.
