Snowmobile hyfax off a rear suspension would be easy to get for sliders. Gawd help you if it gets away from ya:jaw:

Looking forward to some initial burn data!

Yeah, the snowmobile hyfax would be a good source. Same concept.

I'm a little pooped for actual data, but here are some pictures. Just doing a few small fires tonight to cure the finish.
Before I got the stove installed, I cleaned the pipes and chimney really good with my new Soot Eater (which surpassed my expectations.) and re-fit the pipes to fit.

Here is a picture of the first burn of the season as well as the first burn of the stove.

So glad to finally have it here and installed.

So I looked at the pics before reading the message...and I was like "what an action shot!" of the stove skiing down the ramp...and was thinking thats both awesome, scary and trusting all at the same time. And then I read the message...and was relieved, but kind dissapointed too that the stove wasn't skiing... Congrats on your new stove, looking forward to continued updates.

Mfp. No eta yet ordered the thermodisk kit as well. The guy at the rental place is gonna think I’m crazy I think I’m the only person that rents the electric dolly. This will be the heaviest move yet!

I was hoping to claim my blower from drolet but they ask for a serial number. I’ll try calling Monday and see if they will ship them together

Thanks. I do not have a key damper in the pipe. Do you think it will need one?

You're smart ordering the thermodisk. I wish I had gotten one right away. I will probably order one eventually.

Hard to say not knowing some specifics. If you find it’s hard to slow the stove down a damper could help.

I'll keep an eye out for it. I do get a heavy draft at times, but I haven't had trouble in the past. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't worry, there was plenty of action. I ran out of cable half way down the stairs and we had to guide it the rest of the way.

Refresh our memory. What is the vent sys comprised of? Single wall from the collar to the masonry chimney or? Liner? How many feet from the thimble to the termination?

Good to hear you like the Sooteater. Nice tool.

Single wall to the masonry chimney (terra lined). It's in the basement and goes through two floors and the attic. I estimated it at just over 35 feet or so.
I used 12 sooteater rods (3 FT) and just made it to the top without going past.

That was probably one of the most effective cleans I have been able to do.

o_O 35 feet..... What is the inside dimension's of the terra? If you can dial the stove down to a almost zero lazy flame after establishing a strong initial fire you should be ok. If not. Install the damper. Your new stove ushered in the correct weather! Load that puppy up and get us a performance/controllability update!

The inside of the brick is 12 by 10 and the terra would bring it in the thickness of the tile. I can't get to that right now.
Whats interesting about this location is that sometimes the draft is over powering and sometimes its little. I have never not had draft though.
I think I'm going to run with it until I get a good baseline on the new stove. My old one was an EPA exempt one and was hard to control.
