Well, it's not a saw, but it is a Stihl.

Sorry I just saw this now. The $50 sounds good I guess. A 3 point tiller is crazy fast and efficient even on virgin soil. Well asphalt also (oopsie). But I have to go to the place twice as I'm not trailering/roading tractor over to quote. Maybe I should stick to what I do and leave the tilling to others. Thanks for replying Rumpy.

$15 carb from eBay and the yard boss is running better than it ever has. Maybe it will earn it's spot in the shop now.

This reminds me. I use to ride my bicycle by a house and would see a man out turning his garden plot by hand. He would turn as much as he could each day until he got it finished. It pained me to see him doing it by hand when I had a tractor that could have done it in short order and I would have been more than happy to do it for him. The only problem was that I had no truck and no trailer.

Nice, those little machines can turn out a lot of work.

STOP! Never use newsprint in your veggie gardens in any way, shape, or form. While the ink is vegetable based the paper is toxic and you will be eating the chemicals used in the paper manufacturing process. The University of Maryland should know better.

You will like that little tiller. My wife and I garden almost 7000 square feet of area so our main tilling needs are a little larger than most but when it comes to just weeding close and around vegetable plants the little sthil works really nice. We have had ours for 5 or 6 years now with pretty much trouble free operation. One BIG suggestion I will make to you is that you go back to the dealer and buy a set of the optional bollo tines for it. STIHL BK-MM Bolo Tines Cultivator - YARD BOSS® Attachments
I think they are around 50 bucks but you will be much happier with the machine once you use them. I actually complained to my dealer and to Sthil that they should come standard on that machine. But, I guess I was farting in a wind storm on that deal.

Local soil conditions have a lot to do with which type of tine works the best.

HOOOLIE, you just spoiled my supper. I was gonna have a bowl of news print and kerosene with some calcium chloride sprinkled on top as a flavor boost. Guess I will go to bed hungry tonight.

No, use potassium chloride instead; you want to avoid a diet high in sodium chloride.

Caught again, Butcher wrote calcium chloride, not sodium chloride. When I read his post my eyes read one thing but my mind thought something else. Oh well, it made my little joke all wrong.

Calcium chloride is actually used in food products. When buying tinned beans I always check to see if they are processed with calcium chloride because that means the beans or peas will be hard. Some might like them that way but I don't. Luck's products don't contain CaCl2 and that is what I usually buy.

However, this was about a nice new shinny Stihl tiller.

Today I added yet another Stihl to my expanding collection:cool:. Butcher, pics of the new Bolo tines and got me a nice leave blower! The BG-50 is on sale, $10.00 off the regular price. Not much but it's something. :) I had an older leave blower from Echo, and it did the trick for years but it was tired. Gave it to a kid who is cutting grass for the summer so he could make a few extra bucks. The new Stihl blower is SWEET! :D
