Thanks guys. I will post pics of the install and a happy fire going when it happens. Probably won't be till beginning of next week. Hey. Laminate floor it is going on. Wall behind it is sheetrock. What do most use for floor protection. I need something inexpensive and super easy. To much other chit to do than to be building a hearth. I have seen the hearth thingys you can buy at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. Don't have anything yet. Ideas?

Pre made pads can be had for cheap on CL? If you look, you may find one. Look nicer than the black metal mat HD will sell you. I have had 2 of them. The 1st I paid over $400 for (Quad/old install/42" corner board), the 2nd was free with the purchase of a very cheap stove. It doesn't have as nice of Trim, or have 2 tone coloring, but it's a 48" corner pad. So it allowed me to have more from for Maintenance.

Look in your owner's manual. There isn't a generic answer you are looking for. The heat output from under a pellet stoves varies. Some come with their own heat shield, others will scotch plywood under a layer of slate. Remember, when wood is repeatedly exposed to heat the temp. for combustion will be lower and lower. So while some inadequate protection might not catch fire now, it can later on. Usually the insulation factor can be found in the owners' manual.
