Weighted Axe Head

    Funny thing about heavy axes... when I moved into my house, the old lady left an 8# maul behind that was covered in a 1/4 inch of rust. One day, I knocked the rust off and sharpened it up. Sure enough, it is about 5.5# and it has a finer bit. I have a number of axes but that is one of my favorites.

    X25 delivered today - had to break it in... love the weight and the splits were popping off. So far so good!

    That's interesting! Beautiful piece of work. I wonder how well they would split wood for firewood use? Heck, I paid $175 for a Gransfor Bruks hatchet! Took me a couple of years to decide... screw it, I'm going to buy it, you only live once. I was clearing trails on my woodlot by hand. It's certainly a terrific hatchet! Shave hair on your arm.
