Jeez. Been looking at the January forecast for several days now that said we're in for an almost month long warmup into the 30's. Should have known better. This morning, it shows mid-teens. I give up. Ok, I don't, but that's annoying.
Yeah, we're getting that too, but it was supposed to stick around for the rest of the month. I was all giddy and stuff.
We had planned on taking the sleds out, but we have more ice than snow so I'll start cutting this weekend instead of trail clearing or riding. It will be interesting to see how much rain we get, I'm just glad we don't live in the areas that received 2-3 feet of snow with this warmer weather and rain coming in.
We'll get another shot of that Polar Vortex in another 10-12 days, just another reminder that Mother Nature is in charge.
Am I imagining things or did they just start naming winter storms like they would a tropical storm. The storm we had last week was I believe "Hercules". Ya, it was a bad Nor'easter, but not of record proportions like a blizzard. Some local areas had 2 feet of snow and further down the state had 4-6".
Started naming winter storms this year, this year for our area they've been way off with the snowfall totals but good on the temps.
CPC show the North Mid West to be colder than normal for another month, http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/ Motivation for the new stove ? Trend is for colder winters for your area for a few years.
I noticed and wondered the same thing when the news mention winter storm "Ion". Thought I was going crazy. Turns out I was, but for different reasons.
On the bright side, it's going to warm up for a day or two. On the not so bright side, we are supposed to get anywhere between 1/2 and 1 inch of rain tomorrow night. Doesn't sound like it will be freezing rain which is a plus. I got home early from work and got the 2 feet of snow off the roof of the garage. Don't care to see how much weight my garage roof can or cannot hold.
