The kicker is that we aren't bourbon drinkers or much of any kind of alcohol drinkers. We are looking forward to it though, they are a large customer were my wife works.
It’s a novelty. I used to love bourbon so I would get in lottery drawings at my local liquor stores. Our stores (if lucky) only get 3 bottles per year. I won many of the lotteries. Me and some friends would ask anywhere from $750-$1000 per bottle. First person to inquire would buy them with no bickering. Serious collectors of the stuff out there. I have drank a few bottles of the 20 year old also. It’s good, but there are better bourbons out there for reasonable money.
I had a bottle I managed to last three years. I enjoyed it. Have a bottle of VanWinkle, which is a good option to Pappy. Still pricey though.
