Hi Lucy, No problem placing this kettle on a hot stove. If the temp is up in the 450/500 range the kettle boils in double quick time. Cheers, Bob
I don’t think that its that you can’t but would you want to. But nothing is wrong with it. My dad has a cast iron pot he boils coffee water a lot of mornings. Old Japanese kettle but what happens is it gets rust inside. So it depends on how you use it. Since that cast iron often just sits, its not being used for consumption. However there be better ways to just boil water on a stove than a cast iron thing doing that all day.
Whatever you decide on using, make sure the bail handle is non-combustible. I see some of these teapots/kettles with wooden or plastic handles and I wouldn't want that on top of my woodstove.
I found a little stainless steel Tee cattle at Sam's wholesale club. Not quite the beauty like IBobs but only $ 20. So I thought it's worth trying out. Hi larryjbjr, welcome to this forum. I am pretty new myself. It's a very nice place to be.
The kettle holds 2.7 quarts when full. However, I don't think they are made to stay on the stove as humidifiers.
Trying...to upload a pic of our new tea kettle. It's hard to find one that fits on the insert. The good old Revere Ware classic copper bottom was destroyed last summer in an electrical incedent, so we were going without and really missing having water on the fire. Anyway, the max we can fit is 6 inch, so here it is.
