Probably re-use it when some poor sucker shows up for an oil change!

Local recycling center takes drain oil. Another Saturday/seasonal drop off area in the county for hazardous waste.

Do you have a wooden trailer deck that needs waterproofing?

With as much heating oil as we are burning in New England to produce electricity right now, I’m surprised they aren’t paying people to bring waste oil to the local power plants…

Time to fab up a waste oil heater for your shop! Got a fence planned in the future? 55 gal. drum, waste oil and diesel fuel then put the posts in to soak about 2 feet up. Even treated posts can gain extra years of service. I am environmentally conscious but when I see industry getting all sorts of concessions for egregious mass pollution I can stand a few home grown solutions to problems. Even if they are mildly "ungreen"!

As a whole, I would agree....but there are always some far below the mean.

I actually am going to try this this summer before a couple fencing projects. Also have a flame "thrower" for burning weeds, and thought about charring the end of the post. Here my posts sit at least three feet in the ground and thought about that as the measurement to oil and char to. Have also thought about drilling a hole for a soda bottle, half fill a soda bottle and turn it upside down and screw into the top of the post for an auto drip oil system.

Local contractor has a waste oil furnace in his shop. I’ve dropped off 5 gal buckets of motor oil and hydro oil several times in the last few years. I’ll call and let them know how many buckets I’m dropping off outside the shop. Somewhere between a few days to a week later my empty buckets show back up next to the garage door.

I’m planning on doing the motor oil and linseed oil mixture for coating on my trailer deck this summer. Meant to do it last summer but didn’t get to it.
