BBC is reporting it was shot down over Utah. Haven't seen this on our news, yet(?), if it's true.

Edit, not shot down, just looked at and left intact.

BBC would probably know...they seem to be less BS than the "news" here...

No wonder we can't get the weather right....they keep shooting the weather balloons down!

Our At&t worked, but I'm on firstnet, don't know if that had anything to do with it.

I misunderstood, they went and looked and determined it was not a security threat, and left it.

If I remember correctly they said the last one wasn't a security threat and wasn't transmitting information which was later found to be a lie.

Always lies with them. You can always tell when the “news” people are lying….their mouths will be open

It’s just about impossible to find news that isn’t slanted in one way or another. If it’s not trying to push political ideology it’s trying to get you to accept the status quo (endless war is good, so and so is evil, we are always on the right side of history, us versus them etc.) This site lays it out pretty clear where any news is coming from, and it’s generally (somewhat) close.

AllSides | Balanced news via media bias ratings for an unbiased news perspective

I think most people are starting to understand that there definitely is something “off” with what their tv tells them, they just aren’t sure what to make of it or what the implications are. That’s a whole other conversation centered around who funds the media and ultimately shapes public opinion about basically everything, which I’m not going to get into at this point.

I figured a 3 letter agency was updating their hardware/software and it failed causing massive outage.
At&T is known for allowing use of their network.

You must be talking about the CCP. As I am sure none of our 3 letter agencies would do something like that…

I don’t work for an acronym agency but I do work for a large national defense contractor and get a discount at AT&T.

I didn't hear anything about it being shot down. When I google this morning, all I see is that it was intercepted and observed. CNN, says it has left our airspace and was probably a hobbyist balloon. I don't see any other news sources saying anything different.

Doesn't mean that is the full story. The stories say that it was a non-maneuverable balloon. If that is the case, it would have been following the jet stream, which at this point would just lead it back into Canada in fairly short order since there is barely a trough there.
