I saw a few stick bugs this summer. Cool bug. But I opened this thread thinking we were going to share pics of our favorite walking sticks! Lol

This is from a couple weeks ago while camping. We camped the same place this weekend but it got down to 26 Saturday morning so guessing I won’t see more this year. Very cool bug. I love this camp as there’s tons of white tails, wild turkeys, and fish in the ponds. Fun to let the dog out and have three yearling deer 20’ from the door.

Not the same time, but possibly same deer

More of a Praying Mantis joke than Walking Stick...but did you hear the one about the 2 Praying Mantis' at the bar?
One was getting ready to leave when the other said "you may as well stay and have another, your old lady is just gonna bite your head off when you get home anyways?! o_O

In case some don't get it...

Praying mantis like those are usually either brought in on purpose by gardeners or farmers, or, accidentally from shipping containers/ crates from Asia. I saw this all the time in the business park for a further company I worked for. Lots of them. Heat treated pallets are supposed to keep it all away, but we know it doesn't stop it all.

We see walking sticks every year. They are neat little critters. Same with praying mantis, but I'd had being a male praying mantis...

The male mantis doesn't always lose its head and it happens with much higher frequency in captivity being studied than in the wild being studied.
We're gonna have to keep funding these studies to find out why females are so fickle.

ive torn roofs off in the winter M2theB to find bunches of lady bugs hibernating together in the board crevices. Quite surprising when i lift and old shingle and there they are.

C4CC28AE-BAD7-43D0-8CC2-CAF1E2BF8066.jpeg I wish we had those around here, my kids would love them! My 6 year old daughter found this scrap in the yard and turned it into a stick man, I have literally walked over it at least a dozen times and never saw it like she did

I think I was more than 55 years old before I saw my first real Walking Stick bug. I had seen pictures of them but never in real life...

Saw this one on my garage wall...
