Success. I was able to pry the crimps up a bit and reverse everything. Going to go power it to make sure it spins correctly.

Ok just got back from a test. It still didn't want to go really. The rheostat is bad I assume. I still think this motor is or was bad but it doesn't matter at this point. I pulled it all apart. I cut the wires from my original. But going to re wore it to see if it works?

But the squirrel cage didn't need to be turned 180° because it spins wrong even swapping wires on the motor still spins the same

Just jump around it. I assumed you were powering the motors up direct.
As far as getting the rotation right, I think your only chance would be if you can pull the windings off and flip it to the other side (flipped over basically...rotor can be left in place (I think) and the inboard side of the windings become the outboard side...if that little L bracket can be flipped around too)...not sure if it can be pulled off or not...

Oh yea. I forgot to say the rheostat being bad is no big deal . I just won't wire it in. I use the plug to turn it on anyway.

I did put power to the old motor. It spun up. Didn't get the cage back on it but seemed as powerful. What doesn't make sense is I put the black wire from the main cord to the motor in question and the common as well. Not sure why it works now? I had wired around the rheostat I am pretty sure when I tested it by itself.

Good thought turning the motor around y'all are way smarter than me on this stuff

I pulled the whole winding assembly off and flipped it the opposite way. It still spins the same way it did before. So that was a no go. And there is no way to flip the cage due to the way the shafts are. It's not one long shaft but two short ones on each end. The fitting on each end I do not see how I could swap the parts that fit in to hold it so it can't swap.

I can maybe try to swap the windings off this motor to the supposed bad one. I fear I am hitting the same dead end as I was before.

Yep. That's what I did. I had to move that little L shaped bracket to the other side as well.

I'll fool with it tomorrow or this weekend. I'm going to cut wood after work tomorrow.
