Hiked in to a Highland Lake I know of south from our place. Took the shotty gun and fishing poles. Fairly easy pack in. We caught and released a few trout and saw a few blue grouse but didn't get any. Had lunch and came out. We got a ruffed grouse down low on the way out. Chanterelles did not seem to be out at least in the area we briefly checked, too dry yet I guess. Not a big day hunting and gathering but we got some good exercise, enjoyed the peace and quiet and got our souls washed in fresh air and sunshine! I slept well last night! You can see MT. Rainier beyond the Sawtooth range. Coming down to the lake. The trail with what would have been beautiful clear saw logs pushed to the side.
Clouds commonly yes. Usually so much rain here. Most recently we have had the smoky haze! We have a saying here: Live Life like the Mountain is out!

Beautiful pictures. Wife and I were out there just once but would like to return, especially to wander around on the mountain.
