$1500 is tempting to sell, especially if it’s not something you use regularly. I’m still in my “acquiring stage” of life so if I had a large Parker vise like that, I wouldn’t part with it for any amount. The old American-made Wiltons and Parkers are fantastic pieces of equipment and have almost a cult following. Where I work we scrapped a couple of them a while back and I’m still kicking myself for not trying to negotiate with the boss to get them. They came from a now defunct welding department and were a little boogered up, but definitely salvageable.
No I used the "c" version in the title and throughout the post and with my head hung low, full of spelling shame I corrected it.
No low hangin heads here. Made me think of my (many) shortcomings for a moment. Something I don't do particularly often. And an opportunity to laugh. Someone had a thread about scattering ashes recently. That got a little interesting too! Sca
You got me curious as to what I inherited… 4” jaws, non-swivel base. This was mounted on his bench since I was a youngster. I have one vise mounted, but should make this one usable again.
I have no idea what the story is on this one but I use it pretty hard. 100th anniversary worthington Cleveland. It came with the house. This was from my grandfathers estate. Some sort of a 90° angle vise. It has soft felt type material in the clamping parts. I assume it was for woodworking.
I looked up mine and I think they are pretty common. Maybe 40-50 bucks each. That's fine with me, I will just keep using them. I would rather have an old vise than a chineseium one from harbor freight.
Power arm is in a drawer. I actually never use the little guy. Probably had it 30+ years!! The big one...well someday I'll get it mounted.
