I can send you an 8’ Osage fence post, probably of a 1980’s vintage, if that will quell/satiate your curiosity.
I garruunteee that’ll do it. That’s how I learned about it, years ago, scrounging for some firewood and found a handful of old posts.
Idk. I've wrestled a good bit of HL the last few years. That stuff is heavy AF. All that primo stuff is heavy. Especially green. Nice work Scotty Overkill ! Yes use the trailer, the skid steer whatever to make it easier. Working out helps, but hydros and internal combustion are easier. You get enough workout anyway making firewood.
Indeed my friend! I finished up stacking in that open area I had, around 4.3 full cord total. One more section of around 4 cord at the one end of my stacks coming up next, then on the opposite end I'm going to add a section that'll be dedicated to wood for the pizza oven (it'll all be split to 2x2" - 2x3" pieces). I C/S/S'ed all week last week in the evenings through that heat, it was miserable but got alot processed and done. Trying to be all finished up with my own wood needs here at the house by the last week of August so I can finish the stone veneer work on the back of my house foundation that week (I have a week vacation scheduled then). Not to mention all the tree work we have lined up.....lol
Pic of the recently finished section (11'×5.5'×8') turned out to be 3.78 full cord not 4.3...lol. Mostly white oak, with some red oak, hickory, and black locust in the mix also. Cleaning out the section I'm getting ready to fill now, this one is 5.5'×5.5'×8'. Replaced the old junk wood skids with fiberglass-reinforced plastic skids.
Nice looking stacks. I like the rank under the the back of the shed roof overhang. Do much the same myself.
That's my stash of pecan and applewood for cooking on the keyhole pit. I stack wherever I can, that's a nice place for it
Got started with the filling of the last open section the past two short evenings. The ignition switch burned up on the mini skidsteer so now I gotta hotwire it til the new one arrives in the mail.... It's always somethin........ We have a locust removal to tackle this evening so I might be hauling some more good stuff home later....
