I didn't just cut the rounds...I noodled the wood into small pieces so that I'm done. It will have all summer to dry out this way. If I waited till I had the splitter out, I would have lost seasoning time. These logs were a year old so they have at least dried a bit, but now that they are noodled, their moisture will be at or below 20% by winter. I'm not anywhere near the 3 year rule, but I do the best I can.

I cut and noodled another 1,500 pounds today. Most of my wood is now cut and split. I'm fairly exhausted. Firewood is a lot of work for sure.

Went through 2 chains today and managed to lose 3 bar nuts over the last 2 days. Once they fall into the noodles, I'd need a metal detector to ever find them.

I will be at the gathering and will bring my 441 and a bunch of sharp loops.

Used about 2.5 gallons of fuel this weekend. This saw drinks gas.

I know of at least two other 441 C-Ms that will be there, although neither one of them will be stock.

Question is...do these big saws work that much faster to make up for the fuel consumption? I know my 290 can run a long time on a tank.

Oh absolutely. There is no comparison. They may use more fuel but don't bog down in the big/tough stuff like a smaller less powerful saw does in the same material..

I thought about it and cannot justify the money for one of these with the 4 cord or so I cut a year. These saws get expensive plus all the accessories you buy for a different brand.

That 441 should put a years supply of wood on the ground for you in an afternoon. Maybe a full day if you are doing as much noodling as you are talking about.

I certainly would like to help you get that saw straightened out FC. Perhaps at the G2G I can help.

I have quite a bit of wood already. I need to add about a cord and I'll be ready for this winter. I'm getting ash soon...that should season quick if cut up by the end of May.

Maybe I'll buy a ported muffler before the G2G and I can have someone show me how to install. Should be a quick install if it's got all the install parts and it's actually made for the saw and not some universal kit that fits many saws.

Just buy a stock muffler. Don't buy a ported one. We will port it for you at the GTG. Or, just let us port your stock muffler and run it.

I'm picturing an R.V. coming to the jamboree outfitted as a mobile saw workshop with machining tools.

I'm bringing my Oregon chain and Stihl Oilomatic to compare. I'm also bringing a generator and portable music system for bonfire music.

Hah, off the loop will only be a comparison of operators. I doubt there will be much if any difference in the saws. ;)

I was thinking about sending a loop out.....

We running the 28" bars or the 20s?
