Is it a 6x6 ATV like the one shown in a pic? Or is it a 6x6 side by side?

The only Polaris iv ever seen with the cam lobe problem were ones people put the wrong oil in, use the oil the Polaris dealer has for it and keep an eye on the cv shaft boots for rips or tears it will last, I used to work at a ATV repair shop

Not sure what gear drive tractors have to do with ATVs, but they wouldn't be very high on my list for firewood gathering. The hydro Kubota RTV would make a fine wood hauler.

    Polaris makes nice machines.
It's a pain to take it on and off, but trust me if you are going scrounging for firewood, take off the plow or forget about getting through the woods, unless you plan on running everything over!
My friend has a sportsman 800 and with the plow and 6x8 trailer hooked up we had a heck of a time maneuvering through the woods.

PM is key. Belt, clutch, fluids, etc.

Btw those things are really tough looking and I hear they're hard to stop!

    Good score, nice deal. Congrats

They are tanks. I hope they added some HP (among other things) for the latest generation but my experience with the RTV says its a farm hauler at best and damm near useless in any kind of tough terrain. No ground clearance, way too heavy, and not enough power when/where it counts. If your trails were well kept, wide, and you had no steep hills, no mud and it never snowed more than a couple inches, then maybe an RTV would get you around.

They sure do good plowing sidewalks at the local shopping mall.

My first atv was a 1984 trx 200. Had it 4 years and then it was stolen. My dad took the insurance money and bought a used 1988 trx250. They were very reliable. Honda is number 1 and Yamaha is number 2 in my book.

    Thanks all !
We'll see what happens. Seems all the reviews on that beast are love/hate. This thing has been going since 2000, guess it's a Wed. machine, at least hoping it is.
Tomorrow, as soon as it's off the trailer it will be plowing snow.
I looked it over pretty good last night. Outside of the few cracks in the furniture, it looked good. CV boots looked good, fluids ok, winch had a crossed cable spool, but that is easily fixed. A little TLC and it'll be just fine I hope.
This thing should help me a ton if it holds out. I have a large area to harvest wood about 3 miles away, but it's 25-35 degree pitch slope. If it climbs like it should, life get's much easier for me. Here's hoping for the best ! JB

Idk what model Kubota side by side my aunt has for their ex farm turned campground, but it's sure a workhorse. Slow and underpowered, but built well. It hauls out a ton of firewood, as well as use for the campground that has rv hookups. They use a Kubota box stacked full of oak every day in their OWB.

They are by far the beefiest of the UTVs. Built almost like tractors. It's one of the best, and worst things about them. My dad used one on a cattle ranch with rather severe slopes. If you weren't in a hurry and it wasn't deep, steep, or slippery, it would move a lot of material in one trip.

My dad's neighbor has a Kubota SxS. I'm not a fan. It is a dog, but reliable as the sunrise.
