I started the day by putting in a small load of cherry with the wife's help. After that I cleaned the 310 and then I took off to my sharpening table in the woods. For some reason the pictures never came out that I took of the first two loads, anyway after taking care of the first maple I grabbed two more that were damaged. The maple in the last two pictures is still in the woods, I think that I'll split that where it sits. The first damaged tree not pictured was a beech and the second tree was a sugar maple.
We have another Beech and a Maple that I want to get before I move to this good sized Cherry that's down. There's a big ole Basswood (pic 0127) blocking my entrance that I'll take care of so I can enter this area.
Since I need to get the rest of the Maple rounds in this area tomorrow, we have another topped off Beech on the hill (pic 0111 in my post # 33) it's off to the right of the Beech with arrows to it. Once I'm done with this, it will be time to split and stack.
I didn't feel good enough to handle the saw but I went back so I could get the rest of the Maple rounds and a picture of the Beech which I better have home by Friday.
I would think by the owners actions, this has happened before, Three Gouverneur men accused of running ATVs on private land, Fowler landowner charged with hitting ATV with his vehicle | NorthCountryNow
We'll see how slickery it is up on the hill where the topped off Beech is tomorrow, if it's okay then we'll get it home.
I decided to let the hill get rid of some water so with the warmer weather coming in, I'll get it off the hill tomorrow along with a smaller damaged Maple. Our neighbor who burns wood has a nice Cherry tree that fell from our property onto his (it's real close to the line, I think it fell on our corner survey pipe) but since he'll be short wood for this coming year I told him that I would give him the same amount of wood that cherry is in seasoned wood we have here, that will be my next job. The worst part will be getting to it (lots of dead pine down) unless I can get to it from the small ravine in the back.
I'll be out early tomorrow and that rain should be here for Sunday. After supper we went to the DQ in Canton NY for some ice cream, plenty of farm fields in that area still holding a bunch of water.
So far the rain has missed us, thankfully. It is turning to snow west and north of us and some ice too. Very windy right now and they tell us temperatures will fall about 10 degrees this afternoon. We're at 69 right now.
The center and about four inches out are good but that's about it. Really not worth the work in the direct sun but it's home.
