There's a road in NJ called Shades of Death. A good friend of mine grew upon Weed road. He naturally had stolen one of the signs and proudly displayed it in his dorm room. Every so often I see an Internet news story about the most often stolen signs and Weed Road in Essex VT is often on the list.

Googled some unusual road names and it looks like those Europeans have us beat all the heck! I do remember some signs that did have the letters switched around and created quite a laugh though. Picture this....."Towering Pines Resort" or "Whispering Pines .....or anything with Pines in it's name" Then, switch around a couple vowels of the word pines and you get a totally different result! Ex-wife caught that one!
Stoner and Sober roads are only 1/2 mile apart out in my area. Edit. I suppose if your legs are long enough it may only be 12 steps apart.
Hog Hollow Rd - Pittstown, NJ State route 31 through parts of Warren, Hunterdon and Mercer counties NJ used to be called Rout 69. They had to change the name because the highway signs kept disappearing.
