After cleaning up our daughters back yard last summer of all the oak's she had cut down, i almost consider all that particular bunch of oak, ''uglies'', but, for my purpose, if its wood, i'll burn it. No complaints.
I really liked this set of pictures, I'm not sure exactly why. The one of the stove just brought it all together.
There’s a report one but it doesn’t get used often. Remember it’s to stay light about things like that here but always element of caution and never take it seriously.
Absolutely. My wife likes to burn the chunks and small, easily loaded uglies into the stove pieces in the stove while I'm at work. That's probably why I don't have a ton of them. By this time of the year, the only ones left are not ready to burn yet.
I live by the same philosophy. I do spend a little of the wood on outdoor fires, maybe once every month during cold season, maybe twice a month during warm season. Mostly just woody yard debris with about an armful of bigger stuff to keep it going. This year I have more punky big stuff than usual, so I'll feel a little less guilty feeding the outdoor pit. The real punky stuff is going to go in the garden, buried in the beds, hugelkultur style. The wood is keeping us warm and feeding us.
im not opposed to the short and uglies. It works out for me to toss them aside until I’ve got a trailer load and keep my FIL supplied with wood. He’s got a little green jotul in the cellar by his man cave. Brought down for 21/22 today.
I get them often it seems but I tend to try and “square off” wood I get which are cut up in odd lengths so it results in “butt cuts” shoot, well no other way around that term. Anyways, often these cuts end up on my bbq if they are appropriate sized but often become wood stack toppers and first to get burned. I’ve also intentionally cut wood small but it does make it difficult to stack conventionally. Those IBC totes filled with them would be hard to turn down!
I lucked up and got 2 of these folding metal bins, got this one almost full, starting on the 2nd one. Got to make a little frame to fit on top, fasten a couple metal panels for a roof.
I’d like to find THOSE. Some people who were selling wood had their wood in pictures with that, so I inquired but hadn’t really turned up a solid answer. It’s either a friends and they are borrowing it or some other reason. Never seem to be available for sale. Hm. *shrugs* Maybe weld one together one day.
I got these from my local OPE dealer. He gets parts shipped in them, he had those 2. Hope he gets some more.
Those would be perfect! Just moving them in my trailer I need the tarp to make tub so they don’t spill out.
Have you thought about making panels from 2x4 welded wire and fasten that to the inside of your trailer?
