I think a dry lube would be better...something like a spray graphite that sprays on and drys real quick...wouldnt attract all the dirt n junk...

I was using grease out of my grease gun and that definitely attracted all sort of junk. Than getting grease all over the gloves trying to clean the junk out of the channel.
The spray seemed to have helped but yes it does allow junk to stick on it still. Graphite might be better, might try that down the road.

I think finding something that can handle extreme pressure would be better.
Might have been the reasoning at the time I went with the red grease.

I’m not a fan of the channel design for those reasons. My Iron and Oak has a bolt push plate on the ram. The main beam has some wear, but it’s not bad. This is after rental use, a private firewood seller, and now me.

The channel should be cleaned out and lubricated frequently.

I tried to buy the Countyline 25-ton at TS, no luck. Incredibly, the manager claimed the sale price was good only on Black Friday. I said that the ad said it's Wed. through Sunday. He said nope, just certain items for the full date range. We got the ad and I showed him how it's laid out and I said if it's only on Black Friday for the splitter, it's misleading as heck! Long story short is he finally admitted it's misleading. I still am not even convinced it was only Black Friday only, lol. Whatever, he didn't have any in stock. After we scoped out storage areas and found none, he finally said he would do a rain check for the sale price. But I was asking for a price match to get $699. He called a higher up and the guy said nope, they will not match a TS in another state. I didn't do the rain check, would have been $799 and I didn't want it that bad, lol, I already have one of these splitters. Would be nice to have one at my land but I can do without. Might get something with more features anyway.

So here's a question on these splitters, I bought the Brute from Menards which is just like the countyline or other versions of the splitter. I had to assemble mine and no where did it say in the manual to grease the wheel bearings. It's the standard small tires with the 1 nut and dust cap, I put wheel grease in there but it surprises me that they don't have it in the manual to grease them. What's everyone's thought on this or what do you do, it would be nice to have a grease zerk to make it easier to grease.

Is it tapered bearings, or just a bushing?
If tapered wheel bearings and they are properly packed, they will last a long time like that, especially if it stays on your property, no highway service...

It's a tapered bearing on the outside and a non-tapered bearing on the inside. I packed it with grease when I assembled it.
