    I see a stove, I see firewood, but I don't see a fire ... what's taking you so long!?

Still sweating from the install. The wife was the only help I could find and she kicked a$$.

    Great pics Bret.
Do you plan to get the better blower? I noticed the plate is off.

Didn't want to damage the plate when hauling it in with the cart/furniture dolly so I removed it. It's on now and tried the fan out that came with the stove. Pretty loud so we will likely order the better blower.

    Just started reading the manual.

Any tips on a break in fire? Pretty sure I read somewhere to go easy on it for the first fire or two.

    Got any kindling?
    How's your weather?
I'd just do some small pieces of kindling and enough newspaper to get it all going well, then let it burn with the air open.
Do another slightly larger fire after the stove cools down.
My air control was a little jerky for a while, but it's smoothed out.
When you get to the point of having a decent fire and want to close the air, once the handle is slightly under the ash lip, very slight adjustment can make big changes.
You'll get the hang of it.
I had a great fire going last night. Stove was close to 450, so I closed up the air as usual. Lost all fire and secondaries. Opened the air and it came right back.

I think I did a Lincoln Log setup with one of my firestarters on the first fire. It was colder here at the time, but I bet you won't have too much of a problem if the kindling is dry.

Quick little first fire just to start the break in. Can smell the paint curing slightly. Not bad though.

Anyone remember how high above the stovetop the imperial magnetic burn indicator goes? Thinking its around 16" but I'm getting old and crs is taking over. 20151107_143925.jpg

18" above stovetop is pretty standard.

    Nice!

I sure am glad for you that you came to a decision and a fairly quick install. I recall how papadave went back and forth about what stove to get. Since he made his move, he seems sure of his choice. Worse yet, was my two years of whining about my stove and the money. Now I have no regret about my selection. Now one last thing. Your Avatar needs to be updated!

Yes, the avatar definitely needs changing. I'll get to work on that as soon as I get back from a beer run.
