Well...I got into Austin this afternoon... no rain and partly cloudy skies. No such luck for Houston and Shreveport areas... looks bad on the news. I passed a lot of energy trucks and even Miami Dade county fire rescue and disaster rescue company... thoughts for all those involved.

Thanks, I was wondering if you went in from the east. I see you went in from the north.

There's not much coming in from the east. The Miami Dade crews even came into Dallas from the west yesterday.... they took the long way around.:vulture:

I stayed in Florence, KY last night, heading to Hattiesburg, MS in about 10 mins. From what I'm seeing on radar it might be a waste. New Orleans is getting wet. I wonder what the radar looked like yesterday, they had flooding and more pump failures with the water they got then. The outer bands are started to reach Eastern LA. Later, I'll call a couple buddies who will be there this afternoon.

New Orleans is under my red circle:

The organizations national staff is on site so maybe all will be well. Once airlines start canceling flights I will know the gig is up.

    Thank for the info Nitro.

Heading in this morning. Not much happening in New Orleans, but Alabama and the Florida panhandle is getting hammered. My buddy at Motiva in Port Arthur is struggling with water in his house, as well as both his boy's homes. Far eastern TX and Western Louisiana are in dire straights right now. The refinery shut down this morning.

Well, it's actually pretty decent here. I ran through some nasty...nasty stuff just north of the LA/MS line on I-59. New Orleans is, no BS, beautiful today. Sad that a only 180 miles west I have good friends under water.

Made it home without incident. My brother drives semi for a company that hauls train engines. He had a run to Little Rock this week. We met up in Nashville for lunch yesterday. I see him just about every weekend, but it was neat being able to see him mid week.

On a firewood note. South of Elizabethtown, KY on I-65 east of road there are piles upon piles of trees stacked up in jamb piles. They were burning a couple of them when I drove through last night. Too bad someone couldn't talk their way into cutting that stuff up. Most of it was very manageable size. Traffic was moving so I couldn't get good pics.

    Thanks.

I buzzed over to the Waveland/Bay St Louis area after I spoke. I spent a ton of time there after Katrina. Caught a couple neat pics.

Yes I am, NOLA isn't my kind of town. I'm not a partier, rarely drink unless I'm bumped up to first class and it's free. I've seen first hand what hurricanes can do and have no desire to be in the path of destruction.
