Boogeyman I'm glad you got to visit Zion NP. We surely enjoyed it when we got to visit there a few years back. We also wanted to go to Cedar Breaks but it was not open yet in May so we went on to Bryce.
Bryce Canyon was awesome also! And of course the tree geek in me was checking out these twisted crazy things wanting to try to split them
Finally remembered to get a pic for Backwoods. Not near as impressive as the above pictures, but still pretty cool. The tip of the arch has died back a little bit over the years. The bottom part is about 26-28" dbh, the upshoot stem is around 16-18".
I've always been in"tree"gued about these different types of trees growing together. The one I call "elbows"

In bonsai this is called “raft style” and is based upon just such type trees that have fallen over yet don’t die.
