My tree buddy who owns a business called yesterday morning and asked if I wanted some Oak, I said sure. This is what I got last night! So..... you can see how I'm spending my Sunday. Some of these are unbelievably heavy, I may have to noodle some of these.
Like the do "not take sign". Also what size Yardmax is that? Looks like that's a much bigger side table than is on my 27 ton Yardmax
35ton. You wouldn't believe it but my friend has dropped wood off and I've caught people loading up their pickups an hour later! That's why the sign!
Him and I are actually school mates, him and his 5 other brothers. Known the guy for 55 years, he spreads the wood around to people who burn. He never asks for a dime but he does get a LOT bottles of Tito's Vodka!
Lunch break done; He dumped them with a hydraulic trailer, you may get the small stuff but you ain't picking up some of those 36" rounds! I'm rolling them to the splitter on pipe and splitting some of these 10+ times.
That's some grunt work there for sure, but nice stuff. It'll be worth it when it's heating the place though.
You bet, in 2025! If I'm still here... and yes my back is screaming!!! I got maybe 1/3 of it done today with the assistance of the Wife! She does the stacking, I just split and deliver to the shed, I had to quit, I'm not 26 any more.
I know what you mean... I got more done with my buddy and his two boys today in a couole of hours then in two saturday's of myself cutting...Got my last two scrounges bucked except a few smaller logs... Remember the turtle whens the race....
Here's the deal, "IF" it's not impeding the flow of traffic, it's coned or "clearly marked" and it's gone before a 30 day period, they won't/can't do nothing to you here in this town. Because we live in a neighborhood and the lots are not very big, it's allowed. This is no different than getting Lumber or brick delivered. They can be on the street, "with the proper marking". My road is very wide, 36' wide, and there is not any issue for cars to pass. Most towns here in the rural area of NJ will give you the time needed. If you were ANYWHERE near any larger city or in the congested North Jersey area, you may have an issue.
WOW! Quite a nice load there Dave. And all the same length. Do you offer more than one bottle if he does that? With wood that nice sitting in the road i'd post a 24 hour armed guard! If there is a sign, i keep driving. No sign, i knock and ask in most cases.
Nice score Dave. Not so sure people around here would care if there was a sign on it. Would still find a new home.
Nice score. I started making my life easier and quartering anything that is big and straight with the Isocore before going to the splitter. If they are straight grained one or two shots and they split right up. Prior to doing this I would wrestle with them but found it so much easier to break them down first.
