Could someone help me ID this tree please? SE Tennessee. Pictures aren't great but I have 1 with leaves and 1 with bark. If this doesn't work I will go find a leaf on the ground for a closer look.
When I look at ash online the bark and leaves both share a pretty good resemblance. But I do not recall ever seeing the ash seed pods like I just saw on an ID site. DO all of them have these seeds? I have never heard of Ash down here, but I am sure it is possible. That is good to hear, I have 2 of these trees. At least 1 need to come down as it is RIGHT in the middle of my view. Would be nice to have some ash in the woodpile!!
Looks like it from here. Ash have compound leaves so if you found a stem with multiple leaves, opposite branching pattern, that would seal the deal.
Without a full canopy or clear close up I'm not 100% certain, but based on the branch form and the shape of the leaves I'm pretty confident it's ash.
That is good enough for me. Thanks for your help. Whatever it is it will burn. Bonus points if it is Ash, kinda rare around these parts.
Twigs look like ash when i zoom in. Bark too fuzzy on second pic. It may be blue ash which ive never encountered. Ralphie Boy is the resident blue ash expert!
Ash for sure. You can see the opposit branching. It's too far away and too fuzzy, when the picture is blown up, to tell if it's blue ash. Blue ash grows in Tennessee however.
