I wanted it done!! I ripped the 2x6 and it fits like a glove!! Now I just need to tack the angle iron piece that hold the front edge of the boards down and the deck is complete and I can be on to some siderails.

Probably will next summer. It is way to wet now and needs to dry out a while first.

Well you got it all fastened down so it shouldn't warp out on ya much at all.
The worst is over getting all the old paint off:hair:

Get them fastened down quick. They are going to wander all over as they dry.

You all really think they need fastened down? I have never owned a trailer that had the deck fastened on it and have never had an issue with any of them.

I personally would put a carriage bolt with a locking nut at each cross member if using wet treated lumber. I wouldn't be as concerned if the lumber was dry rough sawn.

I've seen treated do some wild things as it dries and the last thing you want is the board arching in the center and rising up off the deck. It would be loud and beat the board to an early failure.

Did you check the crown on the boards and orient it facing up? Having the crown up is good to prevent them from gathering water....but boards will also tend to arch in the direction of the crown too.

If the wood wasn't "soaking wet" I wouldn't be as worried about it.

not that it means anything now because it's done, I'm in process of taking the bed off my truck replacing everything that needs replacement and repainting the frame, there was some really heavy rust, I used the wire wheel on a4 inch grinder for 10 minutes that was enough, ended up buying a air hammer, that really knocks off the heavy stuff, used a needle scaler on everything after that, now going to wire wheel real quick blow it off and paint it, the air hammer/chisel really cuts down on the dust, hardly any at all! But you've gotta have a decent compressor to keep up

I added another board to increase the height of the side boards the other day. I see that your trailer has side pockets too.

You must live closer to town than me!! It would cost me $4 give or take to run to town and an hour so unless I was going for another reason I would rip the board.
