Just little hint here. I put lithium batteries in our trail cameras around May 1. We get on average 200 videos per week set at 20 seconds. I changed cards last Monday and the batteries in all cameras were still at 100%.
The up side is they last a long, long time! I do wish I would have kept track od how many videos get taken on one set. Maybe next year.
Hey- i use Victure cameras, avail on amazon ranging in price from 40-75 bucks depending on what option and model you get. I have a dozen of these and haven't had one malfunction or break in 2 years. They take great pics and the range of photos are great. The videos are also great, but i cant post vid's here i guess...i also use rechargeable batteries, no issues with lifespan, and they last a long time- i just took out a card the other day with over 700 pics on it.
The wife went out before noon on a walk with the dog, when she was near the back gully she saw a cub climbing a small Maple, she made it back quick to the house without mama bear chasing her. She didn't see mama bear or any other cubs but she didn't really look. When she came back we waited for about 20 minutes and then jumped in the Rhino hoping the noise would scare any bears off and then we made a run down the gully, no bears but I did put up a trail camera. The cub was up a tree to the right in the second picture just after you go up the small hill. I have it pointed in the direction I think they might be coming from.
We had another system come through that gave us more rain for 30 minutes. We were watching the Stanley Cup finals when I looked out back and the black bear was checking out some hanging flowers, it looked like last years cub but still big enough that it could hurt you. I stood up and went on the back porch (screened in) and it wandered off down one of our trails. We have a neighbor who throws out food (bread and other stuff) for the birds, I'm wondering if that is what is bringing the bear down here or it's just the heat.
The trail cam that was up in the gully later yesterday didn't have the bear pass it but a doe did. When I was out today, I did see a fawn for the first time this year and then ma wasn't that far behind.
We had a coyote come through part of the gully/ravine overnight and a raccoon on another trail but no signs of the bear, I'll switch the camera in the gully/ravine closer to the area the coyote came through.
My Moultrie camera took great pictures, but it stopped working last year and I read online that it may need an update. I was given a Campark in May, and I am not impressed with it lately. It is an inexpensive camera, and I have started having problems with it. It is past its 30 day return through Amazon and I would have to contact the seller. I'll just cut my losses with this one.
