This is the only picture I can find right now. I have pictures somewhere of the other side of the head showing the missing eye.
Pulled my cards today for a post gun season inventory. I was happy to see this young 3.5 year old made it. Then I got the call this evening that my lease terms need to be renegotiated. Booooooo oooo.
Early spring? Or is this guy just wishful thinking? Right good luck with that the girls want nothing to do with that now.
I took these pics with my phone. The deer was in my backyard. Has anyone seen a deer like that before?
Yes. It's a piebald deer. Pretty rare. I took this pic in IL, while stopping traffic and standing on my trucks roof. These 2 are full blown albino.
Bo is correct. It's a piebald. Which means it has more white than ot should have. It's kind of part way to albino, but obviously has hair color so it's not one. Bo that is an amazingly beautiful picture! I would of stopped traffic too!!!
I should add this: if you hunt, check your regs on killing that deer. Some states allow it, and some protect them with laws prohibiting it.
Thanks, I was not sure what it was called. That is a nice pic of the 2 albinos. That has to be very rare. Did you buy a lottery ticket after seeing them? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Actually no lol. There's some luck involved for sure, but I knew they were in the area (being protected, they didnt travel far) and spent 3 years and lots of gas $ to get that pic. I had plenty of pics of both deer as singles, but to get them together, in the same shot, with good lighting took some time and effort. And fyi, people will poach that thing just for the hide. If you get to seeing it regularly, and want that to continue, notify the wardens to bolo for poachers in the area and why.
What? Really? It's I beleive from my wildlife classes a genetic deformity that comes from inbreeding and often ocompanies other deformaties, not always though.
Here's an older article that name the states (at the time) where they were protected. Times change and so do laws, so as always do your own homework As to what causes it....yes, genetics. The pic I got is of a mother and daughter. My taxidermy buddy did a nice 8 point full body piebald mountil in the sitting position about 20 years ago.
Yea I know it's genetics, but thought other things went with it as well. I had like 12 hours of wildlife classes in college. But just don't remember the snipit of info about piebalds. As a professional forester and evendors as a hunter I don't really need to recall that info so like much stuff I have forgot.
