That is a healthy one. I tead an article about how easyern cyote have more wolf in them tha western counterparts and are growing larger. Said they have 25% wolf DNA and continue to keep that through their generations...which kind of puzzels me? I would think over the generations that would lessen...but who knows with genetics and selections that are made?

Is the deer looking at the big buck a doe or is that a tiny spike out its head or a branch behind it?

No but we have sika lol, different than the ones with a "T". But yes, we have a wild population that lives in the brackish marshes. Very hard animal to hunt, the mud is usually knee to waist deep, hip boots are mandatory if not waders. Its rare to see a stag at a feeder, I was shocked when I went down to check the cam the other day and refill the feeder... Rifle opens saturday, I will be there from an hour before light until dark waiting on him. Its usually a meat spot for "hinds", the females.

Here is the one I killed last year, currently all time #7 with archery in the book. I called him in, its just like elk hunting, except in mud and not mountains.. They actually are elk, just mini elk. They bugle, chirp, and mew just like their cousins only higher pitched.

So these are non native. There is a season on them? Shouldn't you be able to hunt them all year? Or do they only allow yall to hunt them during other seasons?

Season runs concurrent with whitetail. They are non native but not consider invasive. Its a very prized animal and very "protected" by the locals. Its a long story how they were introduced. The local outfitters are usually booked in full atleast a year in advance.

So strange that they have a season and treat them as a native game species?? Anything in this state that is non native is free game anytime all year. Night time with nightvision, daytime, whenever. We don't have non native ungulates though. So that I guess only goes for cyote and hogs.

That worthless marsh ground goes for $10k an acre sometimes.. Just because of that deer. Theres an entire economy in an otherwise deprived area, based only around this animal.

That's crazy. I mean I get it cause I'm a hunter. But who first prized it I guess .....maybe cause another antler ed animal. But in Texas they have all kinds of animals running around without a season.

First time I've ever seen an albino in person, very close to one of my hunting spots. Cell phone picture so no real zoom to speak of

I have never seen an albino before. Fantastic you got a picture of it.

We have a few piebald deer around my area but they only have all white legs up to the shoulders and rump. One has a white patch on its back.
