Hey thanks ! It looks a little big compared to the tractor ..but it works ! I made a chainsaw holder for it...and the bottom is lined with landscape blocks for added ballast. And I can carry my saw...chain...gas and oil...and lunchbox !
Got the carryall from tsc. It's wasn't expensive. Then I did the wood on my own. Now these days..the wood may cost more than the carryall !

Great ideas on the tractor mods. We got the Grand L3130 model, so it came with rubber floor mat, the sliding pin style stabilizer bars and it has the slide out ends on the lift arms. About the only things we have added was 3rd function valve, changed loader from pin on to QA
I did get a shim set, added 1 to the relief valve, increased the lift capacity on the loader.
Added flat bar around the edge of the grill and covered it with expanded metal...protects the front better
We have gotten a new step, too many years with a fat kid stepping in the middle and several limbs or small trees bending it...I want to weld up a frame around it with better bottom support

 

My dad has a Grand L...comes with all that stuff like yours. Jealous !
I love that grill guard. That's a total necessity on these tractors !!!
I've often thought about shimming my bx. So it was an improvement worth doing ?

I plan on the shim kit for mine after reading on Orange Tractor Talk about it. I have to pick up a 3000 psi guage to measure it. 2700 and change is the max if I recall.

The grill guard mod is excellent. Must do that as I have a crack in my grill because of a branch.

 

My bad. 2410 psi is max for my L3800

 

If I can remember it, I have the thicker shim left. I could bring it to MI. It should be what you need. Our loader is the LA513, which didn't need that much.

I think so. Our grapple weighs 350# and with the forks on, can move a full 330 gal tote of wood. The shims are cheap.

 

Cool. I might try that. They sell a kit with shims...and gauge for the bx fir like $60-$70 ...so not that bad

I made my "kit"...got the gauge from Amazon...CARBO Instruments 2 1-2" Pressure...
Get a coupler to fit your loader control hose and pipe fitting to hook gauge and coupler together. All that was maybe $25. Shim kit was maybe $3 for our tractor from Messicks

The picture with the cantilevered log is a good way to break/bend the loader. When one cylinder is supporting the log the other cylinder is doing its best to twist the little tube that connects the loader arms together.
I've fixed a few over the years and I can say it's not pretty.

 

The mirrors are Grote brand. I get them from the Amazon. I have one center mount and one offset mount. I prefer the offset on my tractor. Only downside is if on the road, using the flashers, rear vision is obscured because the lights are fender mounted and shine in the mirrors. I see a can O pee in my life to keep the sun off me so a rearview mirror on it will help with road driving.

 

I never thought I'd have a need for a grapple until I got the chainsaw collector sickness. Be nice to cut at waist level. I didn't get the quick detach bucket or 3rd function hydraulics on this when I ordered it. Yes ordered lol. There wasn't a 3800 at the dealer so they had to order me one. Im Sorta regretting that decision to forgo the upgrades now.
