I can't figure out who said "gooder" first, as I'm pretty new here too, but there's a few that like to use that term.

My cutting buddy stacks his wood between trees like you. He's had a stack or 2 fall over over the years but, like me, he hasn't been assimilated into the 3 yr plan... Yet. That huge oak the power company cut up for him will be a yr 2 at least for us after css'd. I at least got him to understand it won't be good for next winter even if it was stacked this fall. Neither of us have a stove, or insert...now.

Papa Dave was the originator of the gooder term.

3 cinder blocks. 1 on each end, and 1 in the middle. You stand 2x4's upright inside the blocks on both ends, and then have 2 runner 2x4's to stack the wood on. You can use shims to tighten up the uprights. As you fill the rack the stacked wood presses out the uprights, which in turn tightens themselves inside the block. Found a pic online... Like this.. I've used 4 and 8 foot 2x4 cuz they're pretty cheap and also small pine trees stripped of branches cuz they're even cheaper.
1/4 cord for each one. 4 side by side in a cube can be tarped easyish.

That'll be me on Saturday. Gotta get ahead while I can. I'm assuming I'll be able to cut some more in early spring too. I know, pics or it didn't happen. :)
