Here's today's work. I picked up a truck and trailer load Tuesday and split the trailer load today after work.
Your going to be in good shape next winter if you keep this up. Can't believe no snow there. Up here in Northwest Ohio is still all snow.
Nice load you made there. If you can do that with a hurt shoulder, imagine how it will go at 100% functional. Good job!
Yea, we had a big rain yesterday morning, got rid of most of the snow, but then it iced over this morning. Supposed to be nice tomorrow. Shoulder is feeling about 40% better, still sore, but mostly if my arm raises above my head. Taking it slow but steady. I just can't sit still, and that's both a curse and a blessing.
It's all ash. Got about 1 more load to pick up from the site, then I gotta find another. There is plenty more pine for the taking, but I'll get that when there is no hardwood to be had.
Ash is good stuff and it dries fast, all things considered. btw… Does you shoulder bother any when you're working with the band?
Yes it does. I try to keep my elbows tight to my body, but after about 1 hour it starts howling. My drumming future my be up in the air. WS, that is the log-o-lift. I made it 8' long, 17.5 between centers (2x4's) with a section of 2x8 about 4" higher than the bed of the truck. Lays flat on the ground behind truck, roll big log on, 2x8 acts as a shelf, pick up end and log falls in bed of truck! I can single handed load 30" rounds with ease. It's harder to get them to the truck with a dolly than it is to get them in the bed.
And here's a shot from this evening after stacking and burning all the splitting trash and bark. Mama wants a fence, she'll get a fence. A firewood fence!
,That is cool so very simple yet so very effective. Don't think I really need It for loading my trailer it is low, and I have a small ramp I roll the rounds up. I think I could fix one up so I could lift the big rounds up onto the splitter though, Instead of having to use sledge n wedge. You should put that up in a thread of its own, There was a new guy on here looking for a better way to load his truck
