One thing I don't know if I mentioned before is that I started a side hustle in Woodworking. It's called Redcar Woodworking. I'm still in the process of getting ready to open the doors for selling. Yet I am getting close. I've had some setbacks as I had planned to open this summer, but I am glad I waited to get more time put into setting up the shop and organizing it the way I want it.

That is also on my mind as I put in a day trying to scrounge and get nothing done. I could have been in the shop moving the ball forward. Don't misunderstand the lessons I learned that day were not wasted on me. Failing is a apart of life and being able to pull a lesson from that failure makes it a day that well spent.

Scrounging can be tough work. Not always the easiest way to get wood as the time schedule isn’t always of your own.
If it wasn’t for the trailer I built I wouldn’t do it. Just don’t have the physical stamina to put in the concerted effort required.
With the trailer I can pick and choose nice log finds. Grab them almost effortlessly and then whittle them up at my leisure at home.
I sure couldn’t run around bucking and tossing rounds in a Truck like the buzzsaw does.
Cut to length, winch em on board and dump em at home ;)

I do quite a bit of scrounging from CL and FB MP. I won't even blink at adds without pics. And if they tell me someone else has already been there, typically game over. I do pick and choose. I need access to load, so no wheel barrow through the yard deals. And I'm not there to primarily clean up your mess. I state I want from about wrist size and up, no brush or small limbs. And if its a noodle-rama, I don't take them with me, unless I need some for firestarter. If it's a log that is screaming for the mill, I discuss w/ landowner and do that onsite since I don't have the help of hydros to load/transport.

Sure do, wasn’t going to mention it but there is or was 3 cord of “Lotus” wood for free not far from me :). BL of course. Without the winch in action and an otherwise full plate I let it slide. Be gentle.

And even pictures lie. But I agree, no picture I’m not even looking at the ad.

This is why I cut my wood in the National Forest. Too big or small I just let it go. When I get too tired I go home. And there’s almost always several trees down that are close to the road. I’ve responded to ads on FBM before and they’re almost never entirely accurate and/or they want me to pay for cleaning up their yard.

Colchester. Some of the rounds were pretty big,,,,28” maybe more. Without the winch I just didn’t bother distract myself from “the project”.
    They’ll make more BL trees.
