Sorry Bill, I have no idea, it's a lady that lives near here and has the same antenna with success. Idk if I was signed into my Amazon account with that link or if it shows here, Amazon donates a portion of all the dollars I spend there to the Scleroderma Reseach Foundation. Sorry if that cookie is there too. Look at SMILE at Amazon, they will automatically donate a portion of what you spend to charity of your choice.

I have a newer laptop we rarely use, could I hook that up and use it as a DVR?

Possibly, but I'm unaware of the software required.

Maybe Grizzly Adam has some advice here.

wildwest what are you planning to record with your dvr? Does you laptop have a tv tuner card?

Or by DVR do you mean media player, and not digital video recorder?

I want to record tv shows to watch later, viewed on our tv. I don't believe the laptop has a tuner, lower end stock laptop.

The laptop idea won't work without a TV card, and those are spendy. Better to get a dedicated box, something lime this is cheap but requires you add your own usb hardrive.

Mediasonic HomeWorx ATSC Digital Converter Box w/ TV Recording, Media Player, and TV Tuner Function (HW-150PVR)

I am really happy for you. Now you have access to the world! I have Spectrum, I am happy with their service. My internet connection speed is over 100 Mbps (112.13 right now) Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and CBS all access. I can get anything I want on any internet screen I use and on the smart TVs. I think I spend a third of my awake time in staring into a screen.

Thanks Larry, wow your is super fast! I am less than 1/2 yours, but youtube videos do not stall every 10 seconds anymore like the old satellite internet. Do you record tv shows if so what do you use?

Thank goodness they ran fiber optics by my house recently, going from one town to the next. No more overprices DSL from the local phone company that's had a monopoly for decades.
See ya PGTC... Good riddance. Hope you've been banking the ridiculous fees you've been charging.

Turns out the OTA news I started watching is not Cheyenne, it's Nebraska   Yes, I appears I have the tv running in the background and do not pay too much attention, I found the correct channel.

I was still looking at what kind of a device to record, and I sure do miss pause and I like to record national evening news to watch when kiddo is not paying attention and end up fast forwarding through much of it because so many of the articles they cover are are just so awful and much more graphic details than I remember as a kid. I was comparing the Amazon Recast vs a set up like Grizzly Adam so kindly suggested. A set up like Adam's helped me with would be $100 less than the Amazon kit with more storage but I was hesitant on my tech ability that all tech pieces talked to eachother, remotes, and which proprietary channel thingies I might want in the future. Hello BestBuy while pulling up specs to research again today, they had the Amazon unit with a $100 discount today, ordered it. The fire stick was easy for me to get going despite my 20 year tech lag so I hope this is too.

Nice to know I will recoup the purchase price in less than one month of my previous satellite internet and Directv monthly payments
