There are roughly a million things I would rather do on a weekend than help my wife clean out her mother's basement. But unfortunately that's what I was stuck doing this past Saturday. In addition, my mother-in-law asked if I could do some yard work, which involved taking down a "very big" dead tree near her driveway. The tree in question, that struck such fear in the heart of my dear mom in law, was a maple that was roughly 14 inches DBH, and no more than 20 feet high. I'm sure I could handle a mammoth sequoia of such epic proportions.
30 minutes later after the sawdust had cleared, I had bucked up some nice, dead, bone-dry maple. The rest was heaved into the brush pile. The big 372 clone had been thirsting for action, and though a bit overkill for the job, was a pure joy to use. To boot, the new truck got christened with its first scrounge.

You got a couple good things out of the day then. Even a little wood adds to the stocks.

'Course you can scout the area for more behemoths. The MIL will be happy, and you get wood to take home.

Yep Mom, that is a big tree. Probably take me about as long as it does you two to clean the basement. I'm sure happy to help out with the tree though. You girls enjoy that cool basement while I work up a sweat tackling this tree.
It's all in how ya sell the job.:D

On a serious note it is a good thing you help your MIL and also help out your wife in the process. Congrats on the tree and firewood and of course the 372 clone you got to use.

I ALWAYS have tress to cut when my wife and SiL are cleaning the MIL’s house. I don’t care if it’s 100 degrees or 0 degrees I’d rather be doing tree work!
