I owned an Ariens for over 20 years. I gave it to one of my sons. He got rid of it. I had kept it up so it ward his loss. I bought a much larger unit, a Poulin pro. This one makes turns. It really throws the snow. I've had this unit since 2008. Had to replace one frozen cable and a couple pins. I'm not doing much, but my son in law did our yard with this during our last storm of 30 inches. I never leave it outside. For the money, I'm happy.

I broke down last Saturday and picked up a new Ariens 28" deluxe+. It's about 13.5hp.

I'm still going to have the old one fixed as a backup but after using the new one.....talk about night and day.

My wife asked me how I liked it. I told her that using the new one makes me feel like Dirk Diggler.:D

Yeah I was talking to the dealer and I told him that my driveway is roughly 150 feet long and 20 feet wide at some points and he tried to get me to buy the 36" pro series model. It was a beast but also 3k. that's more than double what I paid.

Nice! You'll notice the advantages of the extra power when you get a wet/heavy snow falls. While I was travelling today I seen to neighbors blowing out their driveways. The guy with the older model ariens was throwing the snow about 20' and his neighbor with the knock off POS was just filling in the opposite side of his own driveway...and it wasn't a chute alignment issue:picard:

I was reading some posts online and I guess they have impellers mods you can do that will keep it from clogging and throw the snow further.

Dana, I've seen those mods, and it's something you could do to an older unit that you don't care too much about. I've seen the results, it does work, but I've not really seen the need to do it even when I had an older model blower. Maybe if I had a cheaper brand I could see trying it. Better known brands seems to have done their homework and they don't really need improving.
